The National Italian-American Political Action Committee (NIA-PAC) and event co-chairs Mr. Vincent Mancini, Esq. and Dr. Donna Mancini hosted the 11th Annual Carnivale on Saturday, February 7, 2009. Since the Middle Ages, the six-week period of Lenten denial has been heralded in high style in Venice with the Italian celebration of Carnevale. This year, over 400 guests gathered at the Sheraton Society Hill Hotel in their finest black-tie attire for a fantastic evening including a special dinner created by Chef Pippo Lamberti of Positano Coast, a silent auction, and dancing to Idea 71. Top auction items included a signed and framed Ryan Howard jersey, a signed and framed Cole Hamels jersey, accommodations for Emerald Island Florida Resort accommodations and a framed photo of President Barack Obama with an engraved signature. Carnivale honored several outstanding Italian-Americans including Pennsylvania State Representative, the Honorable Mario Civera and the City of Philadelphia’s Register of Wills, the Honorable Ron Donnatucci, who each received Lifetime Achievement Awards in Public Service. Nicole Cashman, President & CEO of Cashman & Associates was given the Special Achievement Award in Business and Gina Rubel, Esq., President & CEO of Furia Rubel Communications was honored with the Special Achievement Award in Legal Communication & Media. Also in attendance were five members of the Italian Parliament. After the main event, guests headed to Positano Coast for an after-party in the Sopra Lounge
